Just thought I'd note that I appreciate this post and the Fr. Giussani quote.

Though I don't have the opportunity to participate in Christ's sufferings in quite the same way you do, I've learned a lot through my relationship with my older brother, who is chronically and severely mentally ill. I've had a front-row seat for his suffering for several decades now (it's affected me and my family too), and it's only been through following Fr. Giussani and the CL charism that I've acquired an ability to actually see and experience the reality in front of me. What you say about being ill in order to get better is very true - we have to start from where we are, not where we wish we were, to experience Christ.

To your question of whether it's possible that God is real, but not good: If that's the case, then we're all in hell. The choice is between being and nothingness. If God is our Father/the ground of our being, and being is not good, then we may as well just walk off the cliff into insanity. IMHO. :-J

Thank you again for your insights.KathleenLundquisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11303049663665917728noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36594155.post-26162274092990802222010-11-09T21:35:11.543-05:002010-11-09T21:35:11.543-05:00So glad to hear from you, Drusilla!
